In order to be able to run Java you need to use
any of the following browsers: - Netscape
Navigator version 3.1,
- Netscape Communicator
version 4,
- Internet Explorer version 3
or greater, or
- Hotjava browser in any version.
If you are using Netscape, you should also make
sure that Java is enabled. You can do this by: - Pulling
down the options menu,
- Selecting Network
Preferences,
- Selecting Languages,
and
- Clicking on Enable Java
If
you are using Internet Explorer version 4,
you can make Java run more efficiently by: - Pulling down the View
menu and selecting the Options,
- Selecting the Advanced Options,
- Scrolling
down until you find the JIT Java Compiler and clicking on that option.
In
terms of the right computer to use, unfortunately Java requires considerable computing
power. Even though you can run Java on a 486 PC computer with only 8 Megabytes
of memory (or equivalent), you would need to be a very patient person. Last
